Teens
Nutrition for Teens
Today’s teens are navigating more than academics and activities. They’re also up against pressure from social media, misinformation from influencers, and a fast-paced world that often sidelines balanced eating. Whether your teen is an athlete or simply growing into young adulthood, proper nutrition is essential for overall health, mental focus, and physical development.
Why early support matters:
As a parent, you may find your teen resists your guidance—but that’s where I come in. I use a respectful, engaging approach that earns their trust and helps them open up. I provide science-based strategies tailored to their goals and habits, while addressing concerns like skipped meals, supplement use, or signs of disordered eating before they become serious issues.
-
Nearly 1 in 3 teen athletes struggles with disordered eating. Early intervention can prevent long-term harm to physical and mental health.
-
2 million high school athletes experience sports-related injuries annually. Many are linked to poor nutrition, under-fueling, and lack of recovery planning.
-
Up to 50% of teens use energy drinks or supplements with no professional guidance—leaving them vulnerable to side effects and performance setbacks.
Your teen doesn’t need a lecture—they need an ally. Let’s make food a tool for strength, not stress.
Sports Nutrition
Nutrition for Athletes
Optimize your performance with evidence-based sports nutrition tailored to your sport, schedule, and goals.
Because performance is more than physical—it’s a full-body, full-life investment.
Sports nutrition isn’t just about eating “clean”—it’s about fueling with intention. Whether you’re training for competition, managing a grueling travel schedule, or trying to recover faster between workouts, your nutrition plan needs to match the demands of your sport.
From strength and endurance athletes to teen competitors and recreational enthusiasts, I help individuals at every level build a science-backed strategy for energy, performance, and recovery. That includes fueling around training, improving hydration, timing meals and snacks, and supporting injury prevention and healing through nutrition. Every sport—from lacrosse to dance to racing and motorsport—has unique energy and nutrient needs, and we’ll design a plan that’s built for yours.
You’ll gain clarity on what to eat, when to eat, and how to adapt based on your training cycles, off-season, or competition calendar. We’ll also evaluate supplement use when needed, with an emphasis on safety, legality, and effectiveness.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get my child to eat better?
What role does nutrition play in body image?
Nutrition and body image are deeply connected. For many people, food is used as a way to manage emotions, assert control, or respond to body dissatisfaction. This can lead to patterns like emotional eating, chronic dieting, or restriction, especially when someone feels disconnected from or critical of their body.
In counseling, I help clients explore the underlying beliefs that influence how they eat and how they view their bodies. Together, we work to shift those patterns toward a more positive and supportive relationship with food and self. That might involve unpacking where food rules come from, building awareness of hunger and fullness cues, or redefining what health looks like—mentally and physically.
My approach is grounded in compassion, not shame. I use evidence-based strategies, including intuitive eating principles when appropriate, to help clients nourish their bodies, improve their health outcomes, and move toward a mindset of body respect and confidence.

What are counseling sessions like?
All sessions are conducted via HIPAA-secure Telehealth, making it easy to receive expert support from the comfort of your own home or wherever you may be. This differs from traditional insurance sessions, which require the patient to be in their home state to be eligible for sessions.
Your initial session is 50 minutes and includes a comprehensive assessment of your medical history, current eating patterns, lifestyle, and daily routines. We’ll also discuss your goals, symptoms, medications, supplements, and lab values to build a full picture of your needs.
Follow-up sessions are typically 30–50 minutes long. In the first 3 weeks, we meet weekly to establish momentum and begin implementing your nutrition plan. After that, sessions are scheduled every other week to support long-term progress and accountability.
I offer only private-pay packages, starting with a 3-month commitment. This structure allows for consistency and gives us the time needed to create meaningful behavior change. Each follow-up session includes a review of your progress, adjustments to your plan, and the development of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals to guide the next steps in your journey.
Whether we’re troubleshooting your routine or diving deeper into nutrition education, every session is tailored to your unique needs.
How many sessions will I need?
We only offer 3-month packages that include one initial session and then an additional 6 sessions. These can be scheduled when you purchase the package or at your convenience.
We encourage you to use all of your sessions, but it is at your own discretion.

This is one of the most common and important questions I hear from parents. The answer often starts with understanding the roles we each play in feeding. I use the evidence-based Division of Responsibility model by Ellyn Satter, which outlines clear responsibilities:
Parents are responsible for what, when, and where food is offered.
Children are responsible for how much they eat and whether they eat.
This structure helps reduce pressure at mealtimes and supports children in developing a healthy relationship with food. When these roles are respected, children are more likely to explore a variety of foods over time and build trust in their own hunger and fullness cues.
In counseling, I help parents create structure and routines around meals while navigating challenges like picky eating, food refusal, or sensory sensitivities. I also work directly with children and teens, including those with ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), to identify preferred textures, flavors, and acceptable foods, gradually expanding their diet in a way that feels safe and empowering.
Whether your child is just resistant to vegetables or has more complex feeding issues, I provide support, strategies, and a long-term plan to help your family find peace at the table.
